Why I Like Working at Cloud Sherpas

Cloud Sherpas is growing quickly, and we’re looking for new Sherpas to join our team every day. Whether your specialty is sales, marketing, mobile development or software architecture, each of our employees is given unique opportunity to work with the latest technologies and some of the biggest cloud solutions providers in the world, including our two primary strategic partners, Google and salesforce.com.

As the Google Enterprise 2011 Partner of the Year and a salesforce.com platinum consulting partner, we’ve been recognized for our excellence in customer service and support by our partners. But more importantly, we’re frequently acknowledged by our own team members as a top-notch employer. Recently, Cloud Sherpas was named one of Atlanta’s Best Places to Work and Top Workplace by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. To browse career opportunities, please visit our website.

Today +Joshua Adair, a Cloud Sherpas Google Apps Consultant, kicks off our blog post series that explores why our employees—from Atlanta to Manila— love working at Cloud Sherpas.

Joshua Adair: Why I Like Working at Cloud Sherpas

I think one of the great things about the environment at Cloud Sherpas is that we truly value people based on their unique strengths and what they contribute to the company with the work that they do.

An employee’s value isn’t measured by their age, experience, or position but by what they do with the opportunities that are given to them and the opportunities that they create for themselves.

As a relatively new and young employee, this aspect of Cloud Sherpas has been very important to me. For most people like me— just out of college and in their first job— the first couple of years are spent working more as a resource for other employees as opposed to being utilized as a fully qualified employee of your own right. That’s just kind of the way things are. You fill the role and earn your way into having a voice and place in the company, or at the very least the team that you’re on, until enough time passes such that you’re no longer viewed as the “new guy who is fresh out of college and doesn’t know anything.”

Sure, I didn’t know a lot about email systems, or really IT in general to be honest, but that wasn’t a limitation here because people saw my potential and knew that I could be trusted to pick things up on my own and excel within the empowering culture that we have. There really are no limitations within Cloud Sherpas, and that feels great. I’m encouraged to voice my ideas and pursue new ways of doing things to make our service offerings better. We are leading the way in the transformation that has come with the adoption of cloud technology in the business world, and I get to be an active part of that. It’s pretty exciting and has pushed me to do the best that I can.

The freedom and opportunities aren’t just limited to work dynamics though; I also have the opportunity to walk through the front doors everyday and be myself. I don’t have to put on the corporate face nor the uncomfortable dress shoes and clothes either. It is such a relief to be able to be myself and feel comfortable doing so. During the week, most people spend the majority of their days at the office, so why not make it fun? Whether it’s playing ping pong or tooling around with bicycles in the break room, we like to have a good time at the office. It’s so cool and refreshing that Cloud Sherpas isn’t afraid of not taking things too seriously. I think many people in my generation are looking for that in a job, and I’m glad I found it. It’s easy to say that I look forward to coming to work here each day more so than any other place I’ve worked thus far.
